CHMK Chelyabinsk
Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK) is one of Russia’s largest integrated steelmakers producing quality and high-quality steel. ChMK is rare among Russian plants in that it has the right to grant its products its own index – ChS (Chelyabinsk Steel). The plant is also Russia’s biggest stainless steel producer.
ChMK manufactures a wide range of steel products – pig iron, steel semi-finished products for further processing, long and flat products from carbon, structural, tool and corrosion-proof steel, beams and rail products.
Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant uses a simulation model for electric furnace Melting Shop
The model simulates the redesigned ground environment and production processes of the shop floor to be renovated. This is the first production simulation modeling project experienced by Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (CHMK), part of the global mining and metal manufacturing company Mechel group. The shop floor model was created by Russian simulation software developers The AnyLogic Company.

Full description
Construction of Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Combine started in 1943 in order to provide enough steel for tanks production in the last years of World War II.
In the first stage the electric steel plant, foundry, forging and machining shop were put into operation. The first blast furnace and coke batteries followed in stage 2 (1944).
The plate mill, section rolling mill and blooming mill were constructed during the 50´s.
In 1965 the open-hearth steel mill was built and was in operation until 1996 when replaced by brand new LD converter steel plant.
Since 2001 the Chelyabinsk Metallugcial Plant is part of Mechel holding as one of the largest integrated combines in Russia.
In 2013 new universal mill was commissioned.
The factory has 18,000 employees now.
