The Měděnec mine area was built gradually in 1960-1968 as part of the Rudné doly Příbram company. Iron ore was mined here until 1992. At that time, smaller amounts of copper and silver were also extracted from the mine. After privatisation in 1994, the mining programme was changed to the extraction and processing of mica and garnet. This mining operation ceased in 1997 causing the mine to flood and the site was abandoned.
Large part of surface structures was torn down during 2022.
