The coking plant in this area has a long tradition. The first batteries (battery No. 1 and No. 2) were launched in 1960. The next ones - No. 3 and No. 4 - in 1962, No. 5 and No. 6 - in 1972. The 1980 production record is 2,285,562 tons of coke. Since 1997, only two batteries have been operating in the coke plant: batteries No. 2 and No. 4, with a total production capacity of 330 thousand. Mg/year. Currently batteries No. 1 (new) and No. 2 are working.
The main coal supplier is Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa . Coke production is directed primarily to European markets, while coke oven gas - mainly to ISD Huta Częstochowa .
The new battery launched in 2017 produces 220,000 tonnes of foundry coke per year, which means that the production capacity of the Częstochowa coking plant, which produces approx. tonnes of coke per year, increased after the launch of another battery to 700 thousand. tons per year.
Koksownia Częstochowa Nowa is constantly developing
On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, Koksownia Częstochowa Nowa Sp. z o. o., the last ton of coke was pushed out of the coking battery No. 2. The battery will undergo a major overhaul.
Battery No. 2 was built in 1960 in a coking plant which is a department of Huta im. Bolesław Bierut.
After the planned renovation, the battery will receive a completely new life and will become part of the most modern coking plant in Poland.

Full description
The new coke plant in town of Częstochowa continues with the metallurgical traditons of former steelworks “Towarzystwo Zakładów Metalowych Bernard Hantke” established between 1896-1902.
The first and second coke battery were put in operation in 1960. No.3 and 4 followed two years later. In 1972 the coke productions is switched to brand new batteries no.5 and 6.
Raw coal is supplied by polish mining company Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa mainly and water-quenched coke is sold to european markets only. Coke gas is used by neighbouring steel mill ISD Huta Częstochowa.
During 2010-2011 modern battery no.1 was built together with new quenching tower.
