Full description
The origins of the “Centrum” mine in Bytom are dating back to the 19th century. It was established on December 1, 1881 after the merger of two mining fields: Carsten and Zentrum, creating a mine under the name Vereinigte Karsten-Centrum. Its owner was one of the largest companies in the zinc industry – Schlesische A.G., which operated, among other things, a zinc smelter in Lipiny. Since 1945, the plant operated under the name Centrum. On July 2, 1950, the mine was renamed Dmitrov. On April 28, 2015, coal mining operations were shutdown.
