Full description
There are not many strip mills in the UK – three to be exact. The smallest one is in Sheffield and belongs to the Liberty Speciality Steels group.
The decision to build the Brinsworth Strip Mills was taken in 1955, following a rapidly growing demand for hot rolled coils. Construction was funded by Steelos, one of the largest steel companies in Sheffield at the time. The mill was built just opposite Templeborough melt shop and production began in 1957.
The mill equipment was supplied by the Loewy Engineering Co.
