Moskoks Moscow
Plant producing coke, coke oven gas, tar, detergents, concrete mix and large building blocks.
Construction of the plant began in 1937. The plant was built to produce not only coke, but also coke gas to add to natural gas supplied to Muscovites. A village was built to house the plant’s employees, which in 1965 became the town of Vidnoye. In 2009, New state-of-the-art equipment was installed in the benzene facility of the plant’s by-product recovery shop. This enabled the plant to radically reduce its emissions of benzene hydrocarbons. Three additional mechanical draft cooling towers were installed, which helped improve primary coke gas cleanup.
