Full description
Tatra Kopřivnice is one of the pillars of the Czech automotive industry.
The first carriages began to be built by entrepreneur Ignác Šustal in 1850 already. In 1853 the first forge was founded and the foundry followed in 1860. Only few years later the construction of the wagon forge began. The Kopřivnice wagon works became famous for manufacturing the very first car with combustion engine in whole Austria-Hungary.
The present forge was put into operation in 1960 and the foundry started production in 1972.
After the revolution, the factory changed its name several times, currently operating under the name Tatra Metalurgie a.s.
